Review of the shop
Great ultra-portable for the price
Pros: Lightweight, low price and great features
Cons: Windows Vista, low screen contrast & 4 cell battery drain
Summary: I ordered this laptop 8/30 and had it delivered 9/06 (eight day turnaround) - guess Lenovo is finally getting their act together.
The laptop is fantastic. Very light (2.8lbs) with all the features you needed. Keep in mind that it does not come with an optical drive - but I can't remember the last time I popped in a cd/dvd. Didn't come with too much bloatware - removed them. It's got an overhead light that makes the keyboard legible in low light environments. The keyboard has great feedback, all the alpha keys are moderately sized. I got mine for only $900. It's got the IBM bezel.
Windows Vista is a horrible O/S. I'm giving serious thought of downgrading to XP. Vista is a real resource hog - may upgrade ram to 2GB.
The 4-cell battery doesn't last too long - two hours tops. You may want to get the 8-cell which does stick out on the back (hence I didn't get it).
Screen contrast could be a bit brighter, but I read about this already on another review.
In conclusion, this is a great laptop if all you need is a great ultra-portable.
